INTERNSHIP @ RK SWAMY
During my internship at RKS, I focused on researching the marketing strategies within the glass industry, specifically for one of the world’s leading manufacturers. My role involved analysing past, current, and emerging trends to provide insights that would guide the marketing team in developing a distinct and effective promotional strategy. No, I didn’t get to shatter anything (sadly). This research-driven approach ensured that our campaigns stood out in a competitive market, highlighting the importance of understanding the industry from all angles before taking action.
One of the challenges I faced as an intern was getting my work noticed, as my contributions weren’t fully trusted. To overcome this, I focused on what I could control—delivering work ahead of deadlines, adding extra insights, and creating visually engaging presentations. Most importantly, I learned that brevity was key. I made my content concise and impactful, knowing that capturing attention quickly was crucial. My efforts paid off when my superior noticed my presentation style and chose to feature one of my slides in a meeting. This experience taught me that, much like I had to grab my superior’s attention with clear and concise information, marketing requires the same approach. As a marketing aspirant, I learned the importance of creating innovative, engaging content to capture and sustain a viewer’s attention long enough for them to consider the message being promoted.
